Chronice is a tool that implements a digital clock on your PC with a fully customizable look and feel. It allows you to create one or more alarms and to select your preferred notification method for each. You can modify any of the included skins to create totally new ones, and save your creations as new available skins. For this purpose, the program includes a thorough skin-design section.
When you first run the program, it only displays the clock on your desktop with the default skin. To access the program's configuration, you have to right-click on it or use the icon on the system tray area, which also allows you to show or hide the clock or to close the program completely. The options window permits you to completely control the program's working through four clearly identified tabs.
"Skin Design" is the first tab, and it allows you to create your own customized skins for your clock. It allows you to choose its shape (circular, square, and rounded are available), its transparency level, its size, the digital format (AM/PM or 24 hours) and the color of the hour and minute hands, the tics and tics band, whether to show a digital clock and in what color, and many more. When your design is ready, you can save it with a new name.
The second tab is "Skin Galleries", which allows you to choose any of the existing skins and apply it to your clock right away. "Alarms", the next tab, allows you to create customized alarms that can be programmed to go off on a single, daily, weekly, and a monthly basis. The alarms are fully customizable - for example, if you choose the weekly mode, you can select the days of the week when the alarm should be activated. In addition, you can choose how you would like to be notified when an alarm goes off - with a picture plus a sound, or by opening a document or any other kind of file.
The last tab is the "Help" tab, and it displays a few short messages telling you how to use the program in general terms. It also invites you to obtain Chronice Plus, a paid version of the program. In conclusion, Chronice is a handy and lightweight application that allows you to have a fully customized clock on your desktop, to program as many alarms as you need, and to be notified when they go off however you like.
